Grand Theft Auto V Review and Gameplay

Grand Theft Auto Five is the biggest one yet. This newest game in the GTA series comes with not one, not two, but three different protagonists. They are Michael, the former bank robber, Trevor, the sleazy “trailer trash” version of Michael, and Franklin, the ex-gangster. This new game comes with a character switch feature. This allows you to switch characters almost whenever you want. Each character has their own back story, and they play slightly different during missions.

Michael De Santa, he’s the former bank robber who is described as having “everything and nothing to lose at the same time.” As I had already mentioned, he is a former bank robber, he had received a “sweetheart deal” with the FBI, and after that had retired to Los Santos. After moving there, his wife, Amanda, managed to spend almost all of his fortune. He didn’t like this too much, so naturally, since this is a GTA game, he turned to crime to try and get his fortune back. His main flaws, and what make him such an interesting character, are his huge ego, his short temper, and his broken morale compass. This guy is willing to do anything to get what he wants. And he wants a lot.

Next up is Trevor Phillips, Michael’s trailer trash “twin.” He is Michael’s former friend. They had a falling out, that may have had something to do with Michael being put in witness protection. This guy is nuts, he’s described as being “unhinged” and “untrusting.” Whether this has something to do with Michael, or not, well, that’s something you’ll have to play through the story to find out. Trevor is a pilot, so during missions he’s driver, mainly flying vehicles, for example during a bank robbery he’s piloting a helicopter. Trevor and Michael’s story together is supposed to be the most interesting story in GTA 5, but that’s up to you to decide.

Franklin, no last name is given, is an ex gangster, who is always looking for a new opportunity. At the beginning he is working for an Armenian luxury car dealership as a repo man. He becomes friends with Michael after doing a job with him. Michael ends up seeing him as “the sun he never had.” Franklin’s friend Lemar has a dog, a Rottweiler named Chop, which he uses to distract people while Franklin reposes the cars. The dog is always in dangerous situations, but don’t worry, it never seems to get hurt.

This game has the best graphics I have ever seen on a GTA game, which is good, because it’s the newest. Normally GTA doesn’t have too good of facial movements, and the hands seem to be frozen in the same position, but I guess Rock Star learned from other games, because the facial expressions are great, and the hands actually move. Graphics aren’t everything, but they do make the game look good. The scenery is great, and the characters look great. And to top it off, there isn’t much of a slow down when there is a lot of action on the screen, barely any in fact.

GTA 5 has one of the best soundtracks so far, with radio stations ranging from country to punk. The bands they have included in the game range from popular bands that everyone has heard of. The bands range from Bob Segar to Dr. Dre. So there is no shortage of music on this game. The voice acting is great, they still swear a lot, but if that offended the player, well, they wouldn’t be playing GTA in the first place.

This GTA game is probably the best ever made. The main problem that people seem to have is one particular scene. In this scene you are tasked with torturing a man to get information. The way they did this scene is, the player selects different instruments of torture, from pulling teeth with pliers to water boarding. Most people who play video games wouldn’t be bothered too much, but some, like parents definitely would not want their children playing this game.

This game is amazing for something that is all about crime. I definitely think everyone older than 17 should play this at least once.
