Could PS Vita mean the death of the PSP?

Sony's new PS Vita is slated for release sometime in 2012, but back in 2005 the PSP reigned supreme. That year, stores like Best Buy were selling out of these small gaming investments like there was no tomorrow. There was a mad rush to get one before Christmas that year and several stores had to place the item on back-order or give rain-checks to unlucky customers. This was definitely the most popular portable device amongst teens, children ages 9 and up, and adults alike and for a good reason: this was the most innovative portable gaming device ever to hit the market.

The PSP's predecessor's occurred decades earlier with Sega's Game Gear being released in 1991, and Nintendo's Gameboy in 1989. The Game Gear was innovative in that it featured a back-lit LED color screen and better, crisper graphics than the Nintendo Gameboy. Sega's Game Gear saw a sharp rise in popularity and a steep decline as well, due to Nintendo's competitive release of the Gameboy pocket, a slimmed-down, multi-colored version of the Gameboy.

The PSP blew these previous portable consoles out of the water. It's graphics were super-sharp, it had a built-in joystick, a wide horizontal viewing screen, it played movies and mp3's, it boasted Wi-Fi capability for multi-player gameplay, and it could browse the internet wherever there was Wi-Fi available. This truly was a modern marvel of portable gaming.

Now Sony plans to one-up itself with a newer version of what made their first portable device a hit.

The PS Vita is slated for North American release some time in 2012 but already crowds are eagerly anticipating it's arrival. What makes it different from the PSP is it's massive 5-inch, 24-bit color touchscreen, a Sixaxis motion sensor (with Three-axis electronic compass), front and back VGA cameras, built in GPS, and the option for 3G support, which would mean internet accessibility anytime you're in range of reception.

This powerhouse of a portable gaming console will be highly sought after by avid members of the gaming community and most likely the PSP will be forgotten about. Users wishing to upgrade from their current PSP will take refuge in the fact that the PS Vita will be backwards compatible, meaning it'll be able to play games from the previous PSP device. This, hopefully, should make the transition to Vita much easier for everyone.

PSP Go Harder To Hack?

I have encountered some articles on where they say it is going to be almost impossible for hackers to get into the PSP Go system. One of the major reasons is that the battery of the PSP Go is already built-in, and not like the original PSP where the pandora battery was used.

Personally, I think there will be a way to hack the PSP Go. I am reminded that before pandora battery, there was a way to hack the PSP with just file download and run executable programs, do not know how many, but there were some homebrew enablers out there. Now just with a pandora battery and magic memory stick, it was just a breeze to hack the PSP.

You can never know, Sony has this war against hackers, but I think we might just be surprised on how quick they will have this system figured out as soon.

PSP Go!? To Be Announced At E3

This is getting interesting... The next E3 is just a week away from now and there everyone will officially know more details about the very rumored PSP Go! I guess including the official date release, and more specs.

Sources say that the PSP Go! will actually be cheaper than our very regular PSP. One big and probably only factor is because the PSP Go! does NOT have UMD drive. It kinda makes sense since there is less hardware production on the unit, but will it be replaced by another cool feature, and actually be about the same price as a regular PSP?

I will gladly love the PSP Go!, but what of those people who have spent a little fortune on their PSP's UMDs? maybe having to upgrade to another PSP would seem like starting over a new hanheld game device, instead of feeling just welcome and being able to play their UMD's on their new machine. Well, I am just saying.... it just crossed my mind... but, who cares if they already have a PSP that plays UMDs right?

It seems so sudden, now that it has not been that long since the PSP 3000 was launched and now, probably less than a year later another PSP is on our way. Sony is really being active this year on their PSP and God only knows what is next. But I guess if they have the money for the production, then... why not.. huh? What do you guys think?

Buy And Download Music At Playstation Network Store Via PSP

Just a rumor for now, I have had the word that this could very well be reality and that Sony would incorporate music downloading to our great portable device, yes, the PSP. How long might this take I wonder. I personally would not be surprised it would mean more money to Sony of course and I think It is really something I would be interested too! and also all depending on cost per song. Well, we will have to wait and see how this develops... I will follow more on this and keep you posted.

PSP Now Targeting The Younger Crowd

Sony Europe is said to be targeting the younger crowd now. Is it really the first time Sony has tried to reach kids now? I wonder, and if so, then those PSP shaped candies a while back did not turn out so great. Oh-o :o

How are they targeting children you may ask? The launch of the new site pspinyourhands.com should give you an idea. Well, in short, it is a site in where you can you can register, share your pictures and then displays them in a 3d environment (very cool actually). Of course you can share with other members. There other types of activities too.

pspinyourhands.com looks and sounds to me like a little social network site, with a PSP brand. If you visit the site, then you will see the beta phase logo at the top left corner, which probably means that this could very well flop at some point. And in my opinion I think it doesn't matter if they really succeed with this site or not. I am really not for the idea of PSP targeting little kids, I mean that is what the DSi is for, right? Maybe I am being a little selfish, and I know the PSP market will grow even more in the next coming months, now with the PSP Go on its way this year even without pspinyourhands.com site :z

Sega Classic Lunar: The Silver Star Makes Its Way To The PSP

Was quite long ago since I played this Sega classic, but I did not play the "Sega CD" version, I got to play it on my "Playstation One" console. It was quite good, and I guess back then the animated cut-scenes in between gameplay were really big...Well maybe up till today too.

Now, I have just received information "Lunar: The Silver Star" will be heading for the PSP. Word is that it will be an enhance version, with more new scenarios from before. I still yet have not seen when or if this will make it to the U.S., Europe or Australia, but definitely Japan will probably get it by sometime this year (2009). It is yet to be announced. Lunar: The Silver Star is published by Working Designs, and developed by Game arts.

Personally, I think this Lunar: The Silver Star was a good game to play maybe more or less than a decade ago, It is maybe good to remind us about the story, and re-live the good times we had playing the game. Much like Star Ocean: Second Evolution. Even though I played it years back... It was interesting playing it again, and kinda reminded me of how the story unfolded. Maybe the same kinda experience will make Lunar: The Silver Star a great PSP game pick.

Another PSP 3000 Hacked Video

I am amazed on how many people want to upload videos in which they show that the PSP 3000 is finally hacked. And I can honestly say... I really have doubts about it, but do not discard the possibility of the authenticity of the video showed here.

This PSP supposedly goes into homebrew mode via tiff exploit. Maybe it is a new beginning for PSP 3000 to have CFW, but certainly something we can all expect in the not so far future. Look at the "System Software" at minute 1:19... Does that say "5.03 Chick Hen" or something.... looks kinda blurry even on HQ. :r

Any doubters? Complain to the owner of the video... but, if I had not seen so many fake videos I would give 100% credibility to this video. What do you guys think? Fake or Legit? Please comment-reply

PSP With A Touch Screen Mod? Vs DS

Looking at this video, I am not sure I would like to see the next generation of PSP to have a touch screen feature to tell the truth. If this was true, it would seem to me that Sony would be following the Nintendo DS, in technology. When in fact it should be the other way around. Nothing compares the supreme graphics of the PSP, and besides that; the media features are excellent on the PSP, and it is as of this time better than the DSi on many aspects in my opinion.

Many would disagree PSP is better than DS, because of the sales statistics. I am certain the PSP is rising even more everyday to that,; as recent sales in Japan have shown a greater sales percentage of the PSP more than any other handheld and home consoles. And with the new PSP Go! (expected to hitting the stores late this year, 2009 in Japan and North America) it will be more than obvious which is the better handheld.

New PSP Era: PSP Go And Memory Stick HG Micro

Mind before reading this article, this falls under the rumor category. It is not "official" to my knowledge, but it is said that the New PSP everyone is talking about (the one we expected to be called PSP2 or PSP4000) is actually going to be called "PSP Go". Of course with new name comes new design and, so I have seen how they speculate the new look with a slide screen like the picture shown here.

So what is the big talk about this new PSP? The Memory Stick HG Micro will make the new PSP Go an outstanding feature. Such a fancy name for a memory stick, but in reality it is said to be better than your regular memory stick as it said to be 40 MB per second faster. This new PSP Go will have a double memory slots??? as said in Joystick.com: "The system will come in two variants: one with 8GB of internal memory, and one with 16GB." I think this will make UMD buying obsolete since game downloading will be official, but not for free as we do with our current PSPs. I do not actually know how that will work out, until we actually see the PSP Go. Release date for Japan is September 2009, and North America will get it too the following October, or November, 2009.

PSP Realistic Shooting (PSP Gun Controller)

Not so long ago I posted an article about a remote control car for the PSP(here), for those who are racing enthusiasts, this seems like an excellent crossover and a good idea. Now it is time for those who enjoy first person shooters to get their hands on a new gun control for the PSP. Very simple to understand and to use, by the way these images are shown.

This great little gadget for the use with the PSP and it is not from Sony though. Although this would seem like it was. It is by some company I never heard of called Madcatz, but I did find out they are a video game accessory company.

The gun controller for the PSP is said to have a motion senser, all PSP buttons incorporated to the gun, with "x" being the trigger. The second picture below shows how you mount the PSP to it. I am just left to wonder, is this an attractive accessory first person shooters would consider buying?

Devil May Not Cry PSP

Well, this is concerning about Devil May Cry for PSP. I guess a long awaited game for the PSP for many countless fans of Dante. I hear its canceled?. uh-oh!! That just might hurt the fans!!! It is really not good when you are promised the released of a great game, and then later on say it is not even going to be out. That is not even trustworthy, Capcom!

I got to say that I am not even a fan, but could really see the let down for those who were waiting for Devil May Cry for the PSP. That is really too bad. Maybe Devil May Cry would have been as big as "God of War Chains of Olympus". Now we will never know, unless they pospone this tittle for way later on...

Gran Turismo For PSP (Upcoming Game)

Gran Turismo is expected to come to Europe sometime this year. Well, it is only rumored that the best ever driving game with much cars to choose from, I did ever played on the PSX and the PS2, might just be heading its way to the PSP. If that is the case I will be really happy if this occurs sometime this year, and will celebrate it once a real announcement has been made by Sony.

I still remember playing Gran Turismo from a while back on my PS2, and wish the PSP will bring this game up in the charts, and make it a PSP classic. Not that there are no good driving games nowadays for the PSP, but I think Gran Turismo will really be an excellent addition to the PSP library. More from this source! :D

How Is This For Realistic PSP Racing?

Now it seems that Sony Europe has new innovation gadget in which to keep on working. It involves remote control racing using a toy car and a PSP. The PSP will act as a controller for the toy car. The toy car is to have a camera as to simulate whatever it sees and project it on the PSP screen. How cool is that?

Seems like a good idea to me and if soon to be out in stores will lead to more PSP sales. The below pictures shows some schematics. Now, there are more specifics about this great invention, but I will let you read more about it here! What do you guys think about this? :D

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Coming Soon For PSP

I wonder if Monster Hunter is really as big as they claim to be in the video. Are lots of people playing this game and has become super addicting???I am quite sold on the Japanese audience though, because I can really see that they do love their video games over seas.

This video is somewhat funny on some parts... I will try to update on this story, so please stay tuned. And thanks all for the visits! :D

Who Are You Not Going To Call For PSP? Ghostbusters The Vidoe Game

This is just a rumor going around the internet: is Ghostbusters The Video Game coming to PSP? Some early articles I read on PSP news sites confirmed it, and so they claimed it due to the ESRB listing...

Ghostbusters The Video Game is published by Atari. And so as to frequent news I got; Atari has officially made it clear the PSP system listings has been mistaken. and they have no intentions to bring the game to the PSP. But on the other hand, Ghostbusters The Video Game will be released for other known consoles.

I personally think another game like this Ghostbusters would not hurt the PSP, It would be a good idea if Atari would consider it a release for the PSP in the future. It would mean another one added to the PSP library and maybe fun to play.

What do you guys think?? Please comment-reply hehe :D

Rock Band Unplugged For PSP Annouced

PSP owners rejoice for the official announcement of Rock Band Unplugged for the PSP. The music sim will let you play the guitar, drums, and bass. If you have played Rock Band Unplugged for other consoles, and loved it. considering playing on the best portable gaming system is not a bad idea. I personally can't wait till it arrives in North America. Take a look at the video I found on Youtube. And thanks for the visit :D

New Greatest Hits PSP Game Line Up!

On April 5th, 2009, Sony will place the following line up to the Greatest Hits of PSP Games:

1.God of War Chains of Olympus

2.Fight Night Round 3

3.Medal of Honor: Heroes 2

4.Mortal Kombat Unchained

5.Patapon

6.SOCOM: Tactical Strike

7.Sonic Rivals 2

8.Spongebob Squarepants The Yellow Avenger

9.Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2

10.Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas

I guess all this means is that the cover box art of the 10 games mentioned above will include the Greatest Hits Logo and the price will drop a bit. Cool! don't you think? :D

Tasty Little Sour PSP Candies? Mmmm...

Haha! Care for some PSP sour candies? I personally got a sweet tooth for yummie candies. chocolate, and butter are my favorite types... sour candies are good too.

Are PSP candies avialable at stores now?. I still have yet to see for myself. The picture above is how they look like. Pretty much little PSP shaped candies, but it would have been good help if the picture had provided some type of scale; don't you guys think? I mean they might seem they are also matching PSP size too, right? but that can't be... or could it...

Anyway the box of 12 sells for $32. Wowsie... why that much I wonder... it this correct... for more info look at this site where I read about it. :p

PSP Comics

Nice! this looks like it will be implemented to PSP Playstation Store. But hold your horses people in North America. It seems it's only Europe :o

Citroen Crosser SUV + Sony PSP = FAKE!!!

Unfortunately this rumor is spreading and it seems it's going quite good for marketers. Haha! it is so funny, but do not buy it! I do not believe in this crossover between Citroen and Sony Playstation Portable.

Claims have been made that the SUV will only hit Europe, and that this special PSP Edition of C Crosser will come with PSP 2000, black, two games, 4 GB memory stick, and will feature headrest speaker mount. All that and probably more at the 33,990 Euros sticker price. which is somewhat approximately over 43, 000 dollars.

Ok. Sorry but I want to be fair to this article being posted all over the net. Perhaps there is a light true to it, but I definitely doubt it. My take is 95% pure bull and 5% true.

My props go to the picture editing person or team of this photo you see before you, hahaha! Nice photo manipulation skills :D
